





Attracted by the technology used by Odin Group in the processing of clean energy and crude oil, students of the universities, Militar Nueva Granada from Bogota, Pontificia Bolivariana from Bucaramanga, Industrial from Santander, Boyaca from Tunja and Magdalena from Santa Marta, visited the Biodiesel Refinery plant, Odin Energy and the Petroleum Refinery, Odin Petroil, at the same time that they saw the construction works that have been done in the Diesel-biodiesel mixing unit.
A total of 250 future professionals of Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Technical Advisory Office from Engineering Faculty and Labor technical program in Industrial Production, toured the installations of this Company focused to the production and marketing of energy products and services, which is engaged to generate clean energy, preserving the environment. The students also learned about the technology used in the processing of the biodiesel and its sub products, as well as the process done in the refining of crude oil and its derivatives.
The purpose of these visits is to bring the students to the real world of the companies and compare the new tendencies in management matter of the organizations in its globalized environment which are more competitive each time.
The students that participated in this visit could learn why this Company emerged as a benchmarking in the sector. The students learned about how is carried out a complete process in the biodiesel production, also learned about sub products as the Glycerin, the fatty acids and the production process of the petroleum products as the Diesel, IFO, Fuel Oil, Gas-oil and Naphtha.
In the last months, many universities have requested permission to know Odin Group plants, in order their students can learn about the field of companies that they will face in the future.
"These visits to companies are part of a professional methodology that should be performed frequently and are necessary, because help to the student to have a better vision of the work field" said Johan Suarez Fajardo, Coordinator of the Environmental Management Specialization, of Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana.
Meanwhile the engineer Jairo González, teacher of the Universidad Militar Nueva Granada, was satisfied with the visit which defined as fruitful to the students, who could learn about the company and the processes to get the products that are sold. To him, as a teacher of the university is very important that the students can learn about companies and experiences related to the courses known in their career.
The students finished its visit satisfied with the information received and with good expectations to work because now, they already know the kind of troubles they could find in the work field and they know how solve them. They showed their interest and surprise with the innovation of this Company which uses advanced technology.
In Santa Marta, a touristic city by excellence, with the interest showed by the students to visit these companies it is possible to say we are facing another kind of educational or university tourism.
